Between the age of birth and 29 years Saturn is making its way around your birth chart. Every house gets a dose of this magical, discipline dust and will experience limitations, reconstruction and happenings that make things seem more difficult than they should be.
Saturn’s job is to SLOW us down and force you to take a long hard look at reality. As it visits each house in your chart you will notice a marked difference in how things flow. However, if you were doing what you were supposed to be doing before Saturn came to visit, all Saturn will do is sharpen things up for you and put its blessing on all your previous efforts.
However, if you have been skipping through life, taking short cuts and ignoring warning signs, then Saturn can feel like your worst enemy. I think Saturn feels worse, because it’s changes are heavier than Uranus and Pluto. Uranus is so quick you really don’t have a chance to think about the changes it produces. Pluto keeps you so occupied with surviving that you have energy you never thought possible to make it through, but when you make it you are transformed.
But with Saturn, it’s like you are frozen in the reality of things. There is nothing to distract you. Everything you do to get away from the lessons of Saturn brings you right back to that reality.
If you can imagine Uranus as the parent that give you a whooping out of nowhere for doing something “wrong” and sends you on your way, whichever way that is. Then imagine Pluto as being the type of parent that picks you up, turns you around and gives you no choice, but to do what they say. Period.
Both the above planets act as though they have better things to do than to waste time on you, so it’s just much easier for them to douse you with their energy and leave you with the consequences.
Well, Saturn is not like either. Saturn is that parent that will put their whole life on hold to make sure you do exactly what you are supposed to do. Every time you deviate the parent will be standing right in front of you blocking your way. This parent won’t eat, go to the bathroom, won’t answer the phone…they just sit there, with a heavy constant presence, pressing on you until you take every step, follow every instruction. Sometimes you will have to even go back over and over things you already did, because it wasn’t just right. Saturn represents plain hard work and self questioning.
Where ever you have Saturn in your chart you will feel this constant pressure to do things right, or just give up, but the pressure is always there. I have this wonderful planet in my 10th house of career and public image. This is actually the home of Saturn, so I have to be on my Ps & Qs when it comes to doing my best in these areas. If I skip steps, boy do I have to pay huge for it.
The fabulous thing about Saturn is that it also represents harvest and if you do the work, just like a good parent, Saturn will give you your reward and once you have earned your Saturn reward it is one of the most polished and valuable of its kind. Saturn believes in long lasting results, so usually you don’t have to worry about losing what you have gained if you remain faithful.
Well, I just thought I would share with you one of the best examples of how a Saturn return can operate in our lives on an extreme level.
The movie 127 Hours really hit home with me because it went through every step within that short period of time.
So how did I know this was Aron Ralston’s Saturn return? Because he was 27 years old at the time of the event! Duh! LOL! Also, he is a Scorpio, so he takes his life to the limit in everything, so by the time Saturn returned for him it had to really cut up to get Aaron’s attention. Saturn wanted to make sure that Aaron Ralston was on the right path, so that he could live out his destiny with integrity, somberness and responsibility.
